What works

Discovery of Grandstream devices in LAN works (tested with GDS3710 door station)

Upgrade of Grandstream device works, but I had to change the port of the built in web server to a port number higher than 1024.

What does not

The built in web server listens on port 80, and it is probably prohibited by Linux to to bind to ports < 1024 if your application is not run as root. This was the log I got: HTTP Server fail to start, was already in service, or port [80] already occupied.

Workarounds

To change the port the built in web server is listening on:

  1. Click the Modify button after Firmware Server Path.
  2. Change Listen Port from 80 to a number above 80, e.g. 8080
  3. Click Confirm
  4. You should see a log line appear: HTTP Server started successfully. Firmware Directory [..., Port[8080], Maximum Connection Number[5000].

What was not tested

Firmware upgrade of other products like IP cameras

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Intel
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

Needs Mono and Gecko. When these are missing, you can install them easily when wine launches the program for the first time.
