This is the actual release of the game.
Basically everything except:
What does not
- Bethesda Launcher to download the game
- Ingame Store (Atom Store)
I installed wine-staging-protonified 3.21 (Lutris) with DXVK 0.93 and e-sync enabled.
In addition, I added
corefonts, xact, vcrun2015
In winecfg, I set xaudio2_7 to native, builtin and winegstreamer to disabled.
Nvidia is the beta driver: 396.54.09
Reddish glow of all things in game
In C:\users\$USER\My Documents\My Games\Fallout76.ini set
vcrun2015 should fix that
If you experience 5-10 seconds long freezes of the game every 30 seconds, its related to Fallout 76 game engine and its VSync. Go to:
C:\users\$USER\My Documents\My Games\Fallout76Prefs.ini
and set iPresentInterval = 0
this disables VSync (working now since the framerate got decoupled from the physics in Fallout)
What was not tested
Tested the thing for about 10 hours of gameplay and I found no issues so far, except for the Atom Store and the launcher.
You can actually play it and I rate the quality to Gold cause it overall loads a bit faster than on Windows (I recommend a SSD, loading times take a while) and the graphics are perfect. I play on 1080p, max settings and 80 fps on a Laptop; so on a good rig you easily get the 100 fps. It is really amazing what DXVK can do and you forget really fast that you are actually playing the game on a POSIX-like system. :)
Only downside is the bethesda store, I didnt get it to ever function. I can start it and initialize the Fallout download but then it gives me an error. Good thing is you just need the downloaded games folder, without ever using the store, you directly can launch the Fallout76.exe from there. So you just need a machine at hand to download the 50 GB and need to update the install with every patch (which probably will happen for some time, since the game is buggy).
