What works

All basic functions worked with Gmail or G Suite accounts.

Email, Calendar, Contact, Tasks all authenticate (oAuth) and sync properly.

Google Hangouts albeit with some issues.

Rich Text (including pictures) Copy/Paste all work properly.

Product registration to the paid version works.

Audio notifications work.

Tray Email notification displays properly.

Backup feature works.

What does not

Email notifications display as a blank window. When the window begins to fade parts of the notification briefly displays.

Random problems restoring and maximizing various windows. This wasn't all that often though.

Workarounds

Settings window would crash in some places. This is fixed by setting winecfg to use Windows XP as the windows version.

When you receive a new chat, only a small part of the window is drawn. Maximizing the window fixes this issue and it behaves normally after that.

When copying an image to the clipboard from another application to paste into eM Client you must drag-select the image and click copy. Simply right-clicking the image and copying doesn't work.

If oAuth doesn't work, install the wine-gecko (your OS' name may vary) package to your OS.

What was not tested

Exchange and any other non-Google service.

Additional Comments

Works fine for everyday use provided you can live without pop-up email notifications (other notifications/reminders work fine). I've used this as my main email client for several weeks with four Gmail / Gsuite accounts. It's very solid without any stability issues. The main issues pertain to window management and drawing. Sometimes windows will get stuck, you can't restore or maximize them, and you are forced to close them at times.

My Config:

Install the following packages (or something similarly named for your OS):

    wine-32bit
    wine-mono
    wine-gecko
    winetricks

Using winecfg Set application profile to "Windows XP" to avoid crashes (e.g. Settings screen)

Installed the following using winetricks to get app to start:

    mdac28
    dotnet462
    gdiplus
allfonts (works without this but installing will fix some cosmetic issues)

Install eM Client by running the following while in the same directory as setup.msi:
wine msiexec /i setup.msi
