What works

All functionality works if used with a dual computer monitor setup with virtual desktop turned off in winecfg.

If winecfg virtual desktop is turned on, only one monitor is needed, but in this case some of the 2D campaign map icons disappear.

If virtual desktop is turned off, Mig Alley, a black box blocks most of
the 3D view.  The solution is to uses a dual monitor setup and coax Mig
Alley into placing the black box on the secondary monitor.  Extend the
desktop across both monitors.  With monitors set to max resolution and
with Mig Alley resolution set to 1024x768, Mig Alley conveniently places
the black box on the non-primary monitor, leaving the primary monitor
with the correct 3D view.  Problem solved!
