Tableau Desktop Professional Edition version 10.3.2 (10300.17.0728.2252) 32-bit
All functions I tried have worked, from running the sample workbooks to running a workbook I had created.
I connected to various types of data files provided with the sample workbooks, and I connected successfully to an Oracle database on a server in our data center.
What does not
Trying to run the Tableau install program under Wine produced excessive error messages and a non-running installation.
Running from a terminal produces several menubuilder errors and hundreds of lines of fixme messages.
Running more than one of the sample workbooks, one right after the other, opened multiple windows. And when I clicked the X close box on one of the windows, it created an unhandled page fault and started the debugger; this was reteatable with 3 windows opened.
When the install did not appear to run well under Wine, I was able to copy the Tableau application directory and sub-directories from a working Windows 10 installation into the intended wine32 prefix directory in Linux. It still did not run until Winetricks was used to install various items. Currently, my Winetricks has the following installed:
adobe_diged allcodecs allfonts baekmuk cambria consolas constantia corefonts dirac dotnet40 droid eufonts fakechinese fakejapanese fakejapanese_ipamona fakekorean ffdshow fontfix gdiplus icodecs ipamona l3codecx liberation lucida msxml6 office2003pro opensymbol remove_mono takao uff unifont vcrun2008 w_workaround_wine_bug-32323 w_workaround_wine_bug-32859 w_workaround_wine_bug-34803 wenquanyi win7 windowscodecs winxp xvid
What was not tested
I did not try running the install program again with a new prefix having everything installed with Winetricks ahead of time instead after the install attempt.
I did not try database connections to any non-Oracle database types, although many types are supposed to be supported.
