Version patched by GOG for Windows 10
The game works. Menu is corrupt, but readable and usable (use the keyboard for best results).
Hellfire's menu is completely black. I was able to get into game through guessing, but have not tested extensively.
What does not
Corrupt menu. Menu missing from hellfire. Have to install DirectX 9 otherwise the menu is completely missing and the game crashes.
Stopped working once I installed DirectX 9. So if you want to change video options, remember to do so before installing DirectX 9. I recommend setting to fullscreen and the resolution to whatever your monitor supports.
I had to use winetricks to install d3dx9 and also override ddraw with the native version that comes with the GoG version of wine. After that, you can launch the game with wine
What was not tested
The game was tested on wine 4.0 as well as 4.8. I did not test on Wine 4.9 as that version of Wine contains bugs that break other things (like the GetTickCount API call not working properly). I also did not test Diablo Classic, as I could not find my original diablo CD and couldn't seem to fake the CD.
Lutris appears to enable virtual desktop. That is entirely unnecessary.
