What works

Serial connection using USB dongle (Prolific), connects to Range Rover and can unlock EAS as well as run the air pump/compressor.

What does not

It did not update the content of all dialogs but I will continue trying to figure out why not. I was also unable to make the car go to a specific height mode by using the software.

Workarounds

What was not tested

No programming of set heights and similar was done, I beleive that it is capable of everything but you run blindly with no output in several text fields.

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Intel

HowTo / Notes

Installing .NET 2.0 and getting COM1 to work

The "big" workaround for getting this to work as it is coded using .NET 2.0 was

winetricks dotnet20

When I initally was using an old version of Wine included with Lubuntu 16.04.1 (wine version 1.6) I had to manually symlink COM1 to /dev/ttyUSB0 and I did some registry edits I found on the net for making sure RS-232 serial was working. I really have no idea on wether the edits were at all necessary but I kept trying things until I figured it out and I have later verified it working in Wine 4.0.0.

In recent Wine your USB serial might turn up as COM33 or similar which are not selectable in EAS Unlock, the solution for that is described is in the Wine user guide (you need to add a registry entry for Wine itself)
