FineReader

What works

• PDF and JPG recognition, tested also on 399 pages document
• Coping
• Saving

What does not

• Page preview on left panel displaying only for first page, in main window all page displaying correctly
• Sometimes subprocesses (FineExec.exe) keep working after app exit and you have to kill it manually
• Language of document can't be selected except English, French, Deutsch, Spanish and Italian (see workarounds)

Workarounds

You need a 32-bit wineprefix (WINEPREFIX=~/.finereader12 WINEARCH=win32 wine /path/to/executable), on 64-bit it will stuck forewer during recognition

You need to install MSXML6 (winetricks msxml6)

Also you need winebind (apt install winebind)

To add another document language except default, in language settings choose "Automatiacally select" and then pressing "Specify" button you can select any language but don't choose less than 3 languages or you will get a crash

Additional Comments

I used repack installer so I'm not sure that official installer will work and I can't provide additional info due to copyrights. You may install it on Windows and run on wine

Windows version was set to 7, but not sure does it make sense

Large documents recognition takes quite much time
