What works

Installation:

  • At the end of the install, I get several error messages (This is typical of GOG installers on my system). After clicking through the errors I can finish the install. The game appears to have installed fine.

Gameplay:

  • Main Menu and Settings pages seem to work fine
  • The mouse cursor is visible and uses the custom cursor for the game
  • Keyboard controls work
  • Controller Works (XBox 360 USB controller)
  • The intro video/cut scenes play fine
  • The game plays fine, but has minor graphical glitches:
    • I found shadows to be too pronounced with Shadow Quality = High (default setting). Changing it to 'Low' fixes the issue.
    • I see minor tearing when the camera re-positions itself in game (e.g. moving zia around). Setting VSync=Off fixes the issue.
  • The game can be saved and restored without issue
  • The game is slow to exit, but it does eventually close

What does not

Minor graphical glitches:

  • I found shadows to be too pronounced with Shadow Quality = High (default setting). Changing it to 'Low' fixes the issue.
  • I see minor tearing when the camera re-positions itself in game (e.g. moving zia around). Setting VSync=Off fixes the issue.

Workarounds

Set Shadow Quality = Low and VSync = Off to remove minor graphical glitches.

What was not tested

Have not completed a full run-through. Of particular concern:

  • Comprehensive testing of spells: The in-game spell editor allows for hundreds of spell combinations. With the shadow problems I saw I wonder if area of effect spells may have issues.
  • Extended gameplay: The wine console messages for the game indicates that there is a memory leak. This may cause the game to slow down or become unstable after a longer session.

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

Hardware: Radeon RX580 with AMDGPU-PRO 17.50.

There are numerous console log messages about un-implemented features that the game tries to use:
