Continent of the 9th seal

What works

Used a win32 prefix for extensive testing, a brief test suggests that it should work with a win64 prefix the same as with the 32bit version.

Installer:

- download

- install

Launcher:

- login

- update

- options window (setting resolution, server location, etc. -> could not start the game itself, so I don't know if the settings are actually effective)

What does not

The game itself:

The game uses XignCode, and anti-cheat software, and upon starting the game, it fails with a pop-up: "Failed to load XignCode".

Workarounds

Launcher window:

- not all the fonts were shown
-> installing all the non-Asian fonts through winetricks helped, though there were some fonts still shown as boxes

- exits after clicking "LOGIN"

-> winetricks ie8

(I got this from a mail thread, though I have not tested that, according to that thread ie7 should also work.)

The actual gameplay.

Additional Comments

Upon seeing the XignCode error, I read up on what it is. Although the threads I have found were at least a year old, it seemed that XignCode uses features that make it "wontfix" under wine. On a different note, the publishers can choose which features of XignCode they want in their game, so it is possible that the actual feature set used in this game is wine-compatible.

But at this point I have already invested too much time in this game, and decided against trying to poke around XignCode, so I have no idea if there is an easy work-around, or not.
