What works
After installation, Family Tree Maker 2006 runs properly.
What does not
The InstallShield installer checks for Internet Explorer 6 and hangs if it is not found. Install IE6 and patch the wine installation with Windows Update before trying to Install Family Tree Maker 2006.
Family Tree Maker 2006 will complain about OLE2NLS.DLL and wine will print a 16-bit compatibility warning to the console when the program tries to write files. The fix is to use these files from a real Windows 98 installation:
