There are two official versions of WinISIS: 1.5 build 3 (the standard version) and 1.5 build 7 (the arabic version, by UNESCO and the League of the Arab States). The standard version is distributed in english, french and spanish version by UNESCO, but user-developed versions exist in virtually all languages, including special versions which UNESCO helped in developing, for Arabic, Chinese and Korean. All these user-developed versions can have some differences in the installation process.
Since wine 0.9.8, WinISIS begins to work on linux. The installation process still doesn't work, but it isn't really a problem, because you can have a working installation a) in copying all the uncompressed files from the C:\WINISIS directory to the ~/.wine/drive_c/winisis one; b) you can use WinISIS on a MS Windows partition.
It's usually better to use a shell, since to (double) click on the WISIS.EXE icon cause an «Unable to open y:\SYSPAR.PAR» fatal error. You can open WinISIS by using winefile, or by typing wine WISIS.EXE & in the shell. It works fine, it opens the GUI, you can choose to create a new database (it works fine), or to open an existing database, you can glance through the records, you can search a record, you can modify it, you can add another record...
What does not
Installation process is still difficult. There are still some problems with some characters and buttons
What was not tested
I tried all it was possible to test (wine-win3.1 to wine-win2000).
