The retail version of Quake 4 released on CD patched to 1.4.2.
Please dont post test data without patching to 1.4.2 first
Everything seemingly works after one small workaround.
What does not
The game can not run over 1280x1024, I have a larger resolution screen, and it was not able to change the resolution of my screen when opened or closed automatically.. The game ran however half of everything would be off the screen. This could be solved in one of two ways:
1) Set the resolution to 1280x1024 any way you want, and then start the game
2) Start the game with this script to do it automatically.
xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --mode 1280x1024 (change DVI-I-1 to correct output)
xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --mode 1920x1080
Only other problem I've noticed is a rare shadow that looks less like a shadow and more like a area of pitch blackness. I've only seen this in outside areas of the game, which there isn't very many, and it is really not very obtrusive at all. For all I know this honestly could just be the way the shadows looked even in windows and not an issue at all.
What was not tested
I am almost through the entire game, but I have not tested multiplayer at all.
