What works
I went through all settings and operation that I could think of, I haven't found anything that did not work aside from automatically choosing the USB serial port following the serial port info from the WINE users guide to add parameters for the serial port to the proper WINE virtual registry entry handled this
What does not
I was unable to get connection via the USB serial port initially, adjusted the WINE virtual registry settings per the WINE users guide (it did not automatically set the USB serial port within the programs COM1-20 range) followed the instructions, set the COM1,COM2 to the USB0 and USB1 serial ports and restarted the program and was able to continue setup and testing.
Workarounds
setting the USB serial port was necessary, may not be under windows (if it doesn't work, follow the instructions in the WINE users guide), although the guide says that the USB serial ports should automatically take the lowest COM ports, my installation set USB0 to COM33, well outside the COM port range of the program.
What was not tested
audio routing through PC. the options worked, I just haven't tried the sound through the PC audio for this program.

Additional Comments
The program itself probably qualifies as "Platinum" I think the serial port issue was likely WINE related.
