This HowTo is for all GURPS and GNU/LINUX Fans out there. I hope this Howto is helpful.
WARNING: This howto describes how to load Libraries owned by Microsoft to Wine. This means that you need a valid License of Microsoft Windows. Using Microsoft Windows Libraries without a valid License is ILLEGAL.

Installing Wine

Go to http://www.winehq.org and Download the latest Package of Wine. Make sure to read the README so that you know what you are doing. The Wine Project offers Packages for every major Linux Distribution.

Install some Microsoft Suff

Wine means Wine is not an Emulator, and this means that Wine has some great Advantages against a classic emulation. One of these Feature is the DLL Override, if you activate the DLL Override Wine useses some Original DLLs instead of his own stuff. This could help gettings some Apps to work.

The GURPS Characer Assistant needs the Richtext Editor and uses Microsofts "OLE System" booth have a poor Wine reimplementiation until now, but Booth are Google Summer of Code Bounties. Thies means we need the following Files:
riched20.dll
oleaut32.dll
If you have a running WindowsMe/2000/XP installation you can find them in %WINDOWSDIR%/system32
Now copy booth files to the system32 of your Wine-Windows directory, most times this is ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32

The next Part is to activate the Override Feature. simply start winecfg and go to the Tab Libraries. Choose riched20 from the dropdown and press Add, do the same thing with oleaut32. Close the Application with Ok.

Installing and running GCA4

Insert your GCA CD and start the Setup with wine setup.exe. After that you can start the GCA4.exe.

Done GCA4 should work and the GCA Update Feature should launch you favorite Webbrowser. The Application is a little bit sluggish and the Screen refresh does not work correctly but at least GCA is running. ;)
