Zwift

What works

• Updating the game with the launcher after installing dotnet35sp1
• Running the game, watching other players (using RunFromProcess to bypass launcher isse)
• Playing the game by pairing sensors through the zwift companion app (unreliable for some users - especially those with packet loss)

What does not

• Pairing bluetooth sensors natively without companion app (indoor trainer, HR monitor, cadence etc). Bluetooth sensors are required for gameplay.
• Logging in/launching the game through launcher as embedded webpage does not display.

Workarounds

To allow the launcher to update:

• Do not install mono into the wineprefix. If it is installed, uninstall it.
• Run "winetricks dotnet35sp1"

To launch the game despite the broken launcher:

• Download and extract RunFromProcess
• cd .mywineprefix/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Zwift/
• 'wine ZwiftLauncher.exe'
• Wait for any updates to fully complete. Do not close launcher.
• In another terminal: 'wine /path/to/RunFromProcess.exe ZwiftLauncher.exe ZwiftApp.exe'

To fix a white screen startup crash on intel graphics hardware:

• wineserver -k - to make sure we fully reset
• export MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.1

Run the export command in any terminal windows that you will be running wine commands in.

What was not tested

• Not all maps/roads ridden
• Not all bikes/wheels/jerseys etc used
• Races/events

Additional Comments

The game itself performs well in wine once the launcher issue is worked-around. Performance/visuals are perfect.

The big disappointment is the inability to pair bluetooth sensors, which is required to play the game. Thankfully, the game can be played by pairing sensors through the zwift companion app - but this relies on a smartphone and can be unreliable.
