What works
Tested line drawing, circle drawing, save functions. Generally the program installed well, and ran well, except for the requirement to overide the msvcrt.dll (as reported for earlier Wine versions), and freezeups (intermittent) when using the Options-General menu.
This last represents a serious drawback to using the program for its intended purpose, as it will result in loss of design work.
Test System and Setup:
Using compiled Wine 9.20, on Kanotix
2005-04 (Debian Sid) on Thinkpad 600e 2645 4BU after installing Turbocad LE with following
winecfg settings:
Default Settings
Operating System set to Windows 2000
Graphics Tab:
Allow DirectX....., unchecked.
Enable Desktop, unchecked.
Allow window manager... checked.
Emulate virtual desktop... checked :1024 x 768 set.
Vertex Shader... set to emulated.
Allow pixel shader.... unchecked.
Library Tab:
Overide for msvcrt.dll n,d.
Other:
Win98SE version of msvcrt.dll installed in System32.
Original msvcrt.dll renamed to msvcrtold.dll.
What does not
When I tried to save the Turbocad LE's Options-General list after making a change to the default save period, the program froze.
I entered wineboot from the user console, and received the following output:
err:menubuilder:extract_icon32 found no icon
err:menubuilder:InvokeShellLinker failed to extract icon.
err:menubuilder:extract_icon32 LoadLibraryExW (L"winebrowser") failed, error 126
err:menubuilder:InvokeShellLinker failed to extract icon.
Workarounds
What was not tested
Earlier reported problem importing bitmaps was not tested.
Hardware tested

Additional Comments
It seems likely that a fix for the Options save would allow this valuable 2D CAD program to function well for its intended purpose and raise the level to silver or better.

For users familiar with later versions of TurboCAD: the "Edit Reference Point" command is not available by using the right-click drop down menu but is available using the key command "D". (This is specific to TurboCAD LE - not a Wine issue.)
TurboCAD LE will open files created by QCAD but only if they are saved as dxf(R12), not dxf(2000).
