What works

App works as under Windows.

Adding tracks/Albums to My Collection.

Playback for Normal and High works perfectly.

What does not

Black screen if vcrun2015 is not installed. 32-bit WINEPREFIX required.

Hardware Acceleration must be disabled in the app.

I could get no playback with Hi-Fi and Master level audio.

Workarounds

This is my entire process:

    WINEPREFIX="/{path-to-prefixes}/.tidal" WINEARCH=win32 wine wineboot
    WINEPREFIX="/{path-to-prefixes}/.tidal" WINEARCH=win32 winetricks corefonts (unnecessary?)
    WINEPREFIX="/{path-to-prefixes}/.tidal" WINEARCH=win32 winetricks dotnet45 (installer attempts an install if this is missing.)
    WINEPREFIX="/{path-to-prefixes}/.tidal" WINEARCH=win32 winecfg
        Set the Windows version to Windows 10
    WINEPREFIX="/{path-to-prefixes}/.tidal" WINEARCH=win32 wine '/home/{username}/Downloads/TIDALSetup.exe'
        One guide say to use Wine runas to force installation as a non-elevated user, I skipped this.

TidalDesktop launches with only a black screen.

    WINEPREFIX="/{path-to-prefixes}/.tidal" WINEARCH=win32 winetricks vcrun2015 (unnecessary?)

It is necessary to disable Hardware Acceleration in the app (see how-to).

What was not tested

Everything was tested...I believe.

Additional Comments

I selected GOLD as I haven't installed the Desktop on Windows 10 yet. It will require .NET 4.5 if it's not already present, I'm not sure about vcrun2015, if this is build into 10 or not required on that platform I'll leave this with a Gold rating, however as it works almost out of the box perfectly it's borderline Platinum.

TidalDesktop launches with only a black screen.

  • WINEPREFIX="/{path-to-prefixes}/.tidal" WINEARCH=win32 winetricks vcrun2015 (unnecessary?)

Hardware Acceration disabled.

This requires some blind navigation. Tidal will launch with a black screen, take your mouse pointer to the top left corner an experiment until the pointer turns to a pointing hand and finger, there will then be a clickable item under your pointer. A left click should open the menu (which should be visible) select Help | Troubleshooting | Disable Hardware Acceleration. The app will pop up a confirmation dialog (again this should be visible) click OK and the app will restart fully visible.
