On start, the screen will be black. It might appear to not be working. This can be overcome by pressing the escape key.

There is frequent crashes, but since it's true for the Windows version as well it's not clear whether they are related to Wine.

Workarounds

Starting the game the screen will be black. Press escape and the loading screen will appear. From this on the game will run normally.
