HijackThis is a popular, lightweight and widely-recommended browser hijack / BHO (Browser Helper Object) toolbar removal tool for Internet Explorer / Windows. It is also handy for removing new unknown viruses, semi-viruses and malware helpers or downloaders that virus checkers commonly miss. It is recommended that users load HijackThis on a fresh install of windows (wine), check off all the boxes and add everything to the ignore list. Then it will detect if anything new (and possibly unwelcome) has happened to your configuration.
HijackThis contains its own suite of malware removal tools when restoring windows (wine) from backup is not possible. Although this tool may never be necessary to use with wine it is reassuring to know that it works as a testament to wine's ever-increasing compabability.

What works
Program installs (just unzip somewhere) and runs. Scanning works. Ignore list works. Removal works! Backups work. Process manager works. (shows all processes running under wine). Killing processes works.
What does not
Uninstall Manager (supposed to be able to edit the list shown by wine uninstall)
Workaround: Use regedit or edit system.reg to remove unwanted entries from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
