What works

opened some of my extensive list of old spreadsheets - all of them calculated and operated fine.

What does not

had a few hangs when changing variables during calculation.
help does not work - but I think it depends on htmlhelp which I will try later to install.

Workarounds

What was not tested

did not test super extensively - but I have a lot of sheets - I'll update later when I have a richer experience

Additional Comments

Thank god this works. A true switch to Linux would be impossible without retaining MathCad 2000 functionality.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO

This HOWTO shows how to get Mathcad 2000 Pro running.

It was tested with wine version 0.9.5 on Fedora Core 4 and Ubuntu 5.10.

1.) Install Mathcad from CD.
After the files are copied, in my case I got an error saying the dll files couldn't be registered.
Do NOT install the Internet Explorer as maybe suggested by the installer and do NOT modify
windows files, as maybe suggested.

2.) Modify and run the regall.bat file in the Mathcad directory:
With a texteditor replace all regsvr32 by wine Regsvr32
Make it executeable with the command chmod +x regall.bat
Run it with ./regall.bat
The errormessages can be ignored.

3.) Now you have to install Mathcad again!
Start again the setup.exe from the CD and install it over the directory from the last install in step 1
This time, there should be no error messages about failed registration of dll files.

4.) Get a symbol.ttf file (e.g from a windows or google) and put it into ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts

5.) Get a msvcirt.dll an put it into ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32

6.) Run Mathcad!
If it is complaining about a missing default printer, just close the dialog box by clicking on the X.

Any suggestions / improvements are very welcome!
