I'm leaving this here mainly for future me, so if anyone else has a shit time with the native version, here's how you can get the windows executable working.
Make a new wine prefix & install the following in the given order:
dotnet40
xna40
xact
That is all you need, using wine-6.0 (Staging)
If you experience crashing after a few seconds on the logo screen upon booting the game up, like I did. You may not have installed: 'xact', properly.
