What works

The game itself works:

- sound works

- no graphical glitches in majority of the game

- using save games works

- tested only with mouse and keyboard, but controls are working

What does not

Rendered videos do not work, didn't find a solution.

Workarounds

Through winetricks I opened regedit and added in the path:

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Wine->Direct3D

a new key called "VideoMemorySize". This is the amount of VRAM your GPU has in MiB, in my case 8192 .

With this value I was able to finish the game, what I couldn't do with Windows.
If you play this game with Windows, the last part of the Salvation would not load, because of a memory bug
occurring on GPUs with 2,1GiB VRAM an more.

What was not tested

-

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

After playing SWTFU 1 I got the idea to try SWTFU 2 on Linux.
Played it years ago on Windows, but it always crashed on the loading screen from the last part of the Salvation.

People said that it depends on your GPU and the of VRAM it has, if it has 2,1GiB and more the game will just crash.

Installed the game through Lutris with these options:

- Game info

  - Runner: Wine

- Game options

  - Prefix Arch: 64 Bit

- Runner options

  - Wine Version: 6.1-3-x86_64

  - Enable DXVK/VKD3D: enabled

  - DXVK version: v1.7.2L-5ca255d

  - Windowed (virtual desktop): enabled

  - Virtual desktop resolution: 1920x1080

  - Create a sandbox for Wine folders: enabled

- System options

  - Prefer system libraries: enabled

  - Disable screen saver: enabled

  - Xephyr Fullscreen: enabled

With Winetricks I installed probably too much, in hope to get rendered videos working:
