Workarounds
The recent work on mf is currently in-progress. So, I had to use the scripts mf-install and mf-installcab to get the videos to play.
To get around the games inability to save, you have to revert to a very old version of wine, wine 5.3.

Disclaimer: I'm using DXVK. So, I have not tested the wined3d backend.

Alright, with the workarounds the game is perfectly playable.
Wine Bug #48855 discusses the save issue. It looks like the game is unable to connect with some cloud servers.
A regression has creeped in and has been ignored for far too long.
