Additional Comments

Requires .Net Framework 2.0

To enable the use of the scantool, you need to use regedit to add a key to the registry.

  1. First, connect the scantool to the computer, open terminal, and type ls -l /dev .
  2. Figure out which one is your scantool (should be something like tty.usbserial.00002014
  3. Then type wine regedit to open the registry editor.
  4. Go to HKLM>Software>Wine>Ports and add a new string value. Name it COM1 and set the value to /dev/tty.usbserial.00002014  (but replace tty.usbserial.00002014 with the value you found eariler).
  5. You may then have to symlink the scantool in the /dev folder to the .wine/dosdevices folder. Wine should do this for you, but if it doesn't, then you need to do it. Enter ln -s /dev/tty.usbserial.00002014 /users/yourname/.wine/dosdevices/COM1 in terminal.
  6. When running OBDWiz, set the connection type to Serial Port and select COM1.
