Version 12 of Sony's Vegas Pro. Released 9 November, 2012.
- Importing files
- Basic editing (trimming, splitting, audio/video VFX, pan/crop, masking).
- Installing without .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (install is corrupted).
Not all FX were tested.
What does not
- First launch
- Importing MP3 or rendering as MP3.
- Some MP4 files may not work.
- Rendering as WMA.
Delete/move/rename FileIOProxyStubx64.dll within the installation directory when running for the first time. The file can be returned to the install directory after the first run.
MP3 files do not work. If using build 670 or later, they can be imported but play back glitchy audio. Use a different audio format (WMA, WAV, OGG, etc). MP3 files cannot be rendered, render as WAV, OGG, FLAC, etc, or use a third-party software to convert the file to MP3.
Some MP4 files may not be able to be opened. Delete/move/rename the 'compoundplug' folder inside of the 'File IO Plug-Ins' folder in the installation directory to fix this issue.
Install .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 by running winetricks --force dotnet35sp1 in the appropriate wineprefix. It will not install via the installer.
What was not tested
- Upload to youtube
- Capture video
- Some FX
- Importing files other than WAV or MP4.
- Rendering formats other than WAV.
Vegas is prone to crashing both through wine and on Windows. Save your projects periodically.
FileIOProxyStubx64.dll does not crash Vegas on Windows. Likewise, the MP3 importing/rendering bug does not appear to have a solution when run via wine. A possible conclusion is that this bug occurs due to FileIOProxyStubx64.dll crashing in wine.
