Known Issues:

Your switch might not show in the network list in the Plus Configuration Utility. Workaround: Click the REFRESH button or close and launch the ProSAFE Plus Utility again. You might also need to configure your computers security software to allow broadcast packets to pass through (to/from) your PCs UDP ports 63321-63324. To allow this traffic, you can create a rule in your computers security software, or temporarily disable the firewall, antivirus programs, or all of these on the computer. If you temporarily disable any security services, be sure to reenable these services when the firmware upgrade is completed.

Selected Test Results

What works

Everyting I use it for works: querying settings and setting 802.1q VLANs.

For that I did run the EXE installer from the zip archive and let it install Winpcap and Adobe Air, both needed.

Step 2 see "Workarounds"

What does not

Won't work without the workaround; "NetGearServer.exe" keeps crashing.

Running only "NetGearServer.exe" produced the following error:

Error 28 fault: SOAP-ENV:Server [no subcode]
""
Detail: bind failed in soap_bind()

Workarounds

There is a DLL override necessary for the wpcap library:

run winecfg > Libraries > New override for library > wpcap > Add > Edit > Edit Override > Load Order : Native (Windows)

... the following ends up in the WINEPREFIX\user.reg

[Software\\Wine\\DllOverrides] 1629053171
"wpcap"="native"

Which you guys all know of course :)

What was not tested

Nothing beside querying values and setting VLAN was tested

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Intel
  • Driver: open source
