Nintendo 64 emulator, one of the best in terms of compatibility.
Program installs, can browse for ROMs, configure settings, loading a game to the title screen.
Configured keyboard-based controller input successfully.
Games tested (to the title screen at least):
Games tested with some gameplay:
What does not
By default, you will get a blank screen when loading ROMs, error message stating:
CN64System::EmulationStarting: Exception Caught
Going to "File->End Emulation" may result in a hang or nothing happening
Switching ROMs may result in a hang or nothing happening
Attempted to run the workarounds described in another test where one runs "winetricks d9vk d3drm d3dx9" but this did not make a difference.
What did work was the following plugins (The others will not work):
Jabo's Direct3D8 18.104.22.168-ver5
Jabo's DirectSound 22.214.171.124
ROMs load but they take a long time. I assume this is because of the OpenGL emulation via Rosetta.
What was not tested
Actually playing the games past the title screen other than Yoshi's Story.
This was all tested on M1 Mac Mini. Wine version is actually 5.0 as this is the only version that runs 32-bit apps on macOS Big Sur.
Rating this as Silver due to how slowly the ROMs load honestly. If you are willing to wait, things seem to be fine.
