What works

Text messaging works. 

Chat and Group Chats work.

Kakao Voice calls work *

Kakao Friends Classic emoticons work. 

Emoticons from the recents tab work. Not all emoticons will find their way there. 

When wishing a happy birthday the background will change. 

Can send files.

TalkDrive works but can't download.

KakaoTV works by opening a browser window.

KakaoStory works by opening a browser window

KakaoLab opens

Notices opens in a browser.

Help opens in a browser window. 

What does not

Sometimes voice calls don't work because of the microphone.

Would not play media files, either video or audio because they wouldn't download. 

Cannot open an mp3 file because no program found to open it.

Could not add emoticons except KakaoFriends Classic emoticons. Basic emoticons would not find their way into a chat. 

Error was: fixme:richedit:draw_ole Couldn't get storage medium

Does not show Hangul fonts when setting Chat Room Settings. 

Chat Backup runs to 99% and then hangs.

Problems with backup and downloading files seems to be caused by KakaoTalk not having permission to write to a windows folder.

Workarounds

1. For voice calls check PA Volume control and set the microphone input as default if there is no microphone audio.
2. For emoticons that don't directly load into a chat, check whether they found their way to the recents tab. If so they will load into a chat from there.
3. If fonts don't show up when setting chatroom settings then make sure the font being used is a truetype font. This can be checked and set in the Settings/Display panel.

What was not tested

Most functionality was tested. 

Video calls was not tested.

Additional Comments

Some issues with writing videos, mp3s and files to the PC side need investigation.
