What works

Most features, including:

- Entering, editing and saving games

- All the indexes (player, opening key...)

- Analysis engines

- Copying games from one database to another

- Player encyclopedia

- Conversion of PGN files to ChessBase's own format

What does not

In order of decreasing importance:

- Installation (setup wizard hangs right at the start)

- Online help

- Creating a new database crashes the program (but the database is created anyway)

- Analysis engines were prone to crash in 0.9.4, but seem to work in 0.9.5

- Initial databases window is garbled at startup (can be worked around by maximizing and resizing again)

- Fonts look more or less ugly, especially in the databases window

Workarounds

What was not tested

- Printing

- Player dossiers and opening reports

Additional Comments

As the program does not install under Wine, it is necessary to install it under Windows. The program does not require registry entries, though. Thus, it is sufficient to copy the installation directory to ~/.wine/drive_c and the needed DLL Msvcirt.dll to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system. The true type fonts should be copied to ~/.wine/drive_c/fonts.
