A fanmade remake of Nintendo's Metroid 2. AFAIK, this is the last official version before Nintendo submitted a DMCA ticket.

Selected Test Results

What works

  • Fullscreen
  • Changing controls (keyboard only)
  • Starting a game, and all initial controls and weapons* (actually, I didn't test missiles)

What does not

The first time I ran the application, it gave me a "This application could not be started" error that seemed to have to do with the .NET framework. However, that and all later times, the app has started just fine, despite the one error.

Workarounds

Just ignore the .NET warning at the first launch.

What was not tested

Most playthroughs. I just started a normal game without even getting to a save station, but everything looked fine. I also do not own a controller.

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: Nvidia
  • Driver: proprietary

Additional Comments

I did not test very much!

I will note that wine 7.0 (stable at the time of writing) did not detect the fonts correctly, but wine 7.8 (staging) did.

This was also tested on Fedora 35.

I installed the fonts on Linux Mint before trying wine-staging, but did not do that with Fedora.
