What works
The game ran without issues. The fan-made widescreen fix plugin (link for download) was also tested and functioned correctly, however since it uses a custom dinput8.dll file Wine had to be configured to have its builtin dinput8 library overridden though the Wine configuration window (winecfg) for the prefix the game was installed on.

LAN multiplayer wasn't tested. Online multiplayer couldn't be tested due to GameSpy's servers being shut down.
