SRM63257.exe was the most recent version available from the SRM website as of 01.20.06
Installation works like a dream. Running the application was also easy using "winecfg" and following the instructions. Opening files, viewing, and annotating them works beautifully, maybe even faster than on a Windows machine. Downloading data works sporadically with some bizarre issues (see "What Does not work").
What does not
Downloading data is a little screwy. While I have successfully downloaded data, including the very first time I connected by powercontrol, the success rate seems to be highly variable. I frequently get error messages claiming that the powercontrol is not responding and my download fails.
In addition, after unsuccessful and, at times, successful downloads, the powercontrol claims to have no battery left and needs to recharged, even if I had completely charged it beforehand.
Finally, after an unsuccessful download, numerous settings on my powercontrol were reset to impossible values (eg. month value was set to 32). I was able to reset all of the settings through my Linux box, but it was a bit odd.
What was not tested
Downloads using the usb-serial converter cable.
I still can't believe how close this is to working. My compliments to the Wine team. This software is honestly one of the only reasons I have kept a Windows machine around.
