What works

Language selection screen

What does not

The game will crash as soon as a language is selected.

If the crash above is worked around, a task related to the login screen will crash (Vuplex WebView.vuplex) due to unimplemented shared components in Wine and it will go back to the language selection screen. Working around this doesn't get rid of the crash but making it non-blocking.

If the crash above is again worked around, the game will be unresponsive to mouse inputs.

If the crash above is yet again worked around, some avatar components like hair or glasses will appear as completely white (but might be related to one of the workarounds used).

The game will lock up if you close it in any way (X button, Alt+F4...)

Workarounds

The game requires its own 64-bit prefix with the following installs from winetricks:

dxvk vcrun2017

The game will require to grab a login token from a working install of Windows 7 or up. To grab the login token install, run and login in the game normally on the Windows VM or machine, then use a tool like PTCGLTokenExtractor to grab the login token and install it in the Wine prefix.

You will also need to export the appropriate registry branch and import it in the Wine prefix. The registry branch needed is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/pokemon

To fix the game ignoring mouse inputs you will have to play the game windowed. Go back in the Wine registry editor (regedit) and edit the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/pokemon/Pokemon TCG Live/ResolutionManager.windowed

to the value 1. Then, when you will open the game, minimize it immediately and wait for it to load in the background. After waiting for some seconds, bring it back up. The task crashing while loading ("Vuplex WebView.vuplex has stopped working" popup)  is a decent indicator of when you can bring the window back up.

What was not tested

Transfering an account from the older to the newer game.
