HowTo / Notes

Before installing BYOND run

winetricks mfc42 vcrun2013 corefonts wsh56 wsh57 ie8 jscript

Must be run on in a 32 bit Wine Prefix

On newer versions of WINE (Tested 7.22 and Above)

All that is necessary is

winetricks ie8

IE11 dependencies and other issues

The way BYOND handles most of its GUIs is by rendering html inside of Internet Explorer. Nowadays, servers use fancy GUIs that are not compatible with Internet Explorer 8!

Even Internet Explorer 8 is currently rather buggy, if you have a fix for strange issues on servers using old GUIs that work with IE8 (But sometimes bug out and dont ever work until a restart), please let me know!

In theory running IE11 in WINE with BYOND would fix these issues, but there are a LOT of hurdles to getting IE11 to run in WINE. It is a dream of mine to get BYOND working on WINE, if you have information about anything related to BYOND or IE11, or would just like to try to help please contact me by clicking 'Tripping Tripod', any help is appreciated! Hopefully we can figure this out.
