What works

  • Graphics of the installer/uninstaller shows only the interactive buttons -> It is able to install or uninstall the program
  • Launch the initial window of EA App, without any interactive buttons - they are hidden . . .
  • Requires workarounds to get the program normally running

What does not

  • Interactive buttons, nothing on the initial screen is shown . . .
  • After workarounds it is showing the desired content
  • Launching Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered causes crash of the EA App program

Workarounds

  • Make sure you have C++ - Runtimes -- All in One v2.5.0 installed
  • Enter following command: 
winetricks -q corefonts vcrun2005 d3dx9 d3dcompiler_47 d3dcompiler_43 dotnet40
  • Use winetricks (Winetricks GUI) to select and enable those DLLs using GUI
  • Use winecfg (Configure Wine) to override the DLL libraries, select Windows 10 version and launch the program afterwards

Problem with older Games

Odler games, like Red Alert 2 fail to launch. EA App says it needs to be elevated (probably rights elevation) to run them, does something and then shows an error message. There does not seem to be a way to launch the game. At least I did not find a workaround.

Can I investigate this further somehow? Or is this a known problem?
