I like give this info because it takes me
so much time figure out if its a wine problem
or not:
system is opensuse tumbleweed, fix ipv4 addresses,
only ipv4. internet connection with fritzbox
and wpad-filter activ.

got since about mid of 2023 always the
"temporarily lost connection error"
its not related to wine.
the ea-app uses "wpad" for something, maybe
only to check a connection. if the filter is activ,
(what i strongly recommend) the app will
not work until you do inside
drive_c/windows/system32/drivers/etc
a new line to the file "hosts".
the line must be:
127.0.0.1 WPAD
now the app will start without error.
in the host system (linux) this did not work
(/etc/hosts) it must be set inside the
windows "hosts"-file

The actual installer through Lutris needs attention, it seems to be broken when comes the time to install the patch (it doesn't despite the successful message) and the latest standalone installer gives this error, terminating with no successful installation:

libc++abi: terminating due to uncaught exception of type std::bad_alloc: std::bad_alloc
Initial process has exited (return code: 768)
Monitored process exited.
Exit with return code 768

Problem with older Games
by Achim Knigs on Saturday August 5th 2023, 10:33
Odler games, like Red Alert 2 fail to launch. EA App says it needs to be elevated (probably rights elevation) to run them, does something and then shows an error message. There does not seem to be a way to launch the game. At least I did not find a workaround.

Can I investigate this further somehow? Or is this a known problem?
