What works

Basic tools

Filters, including Liquify,  "Color Transfer" in Neural Filters, and others

Tablet pen pressure (with KDE drivers)

Content-aware fill, scale

What does not

With GPU enabled, the app won't render opened or created documents (they'll be visible in tabs, but not actually seen). Seems like an unimplemented feature on vkd3d's end.

"Select Subject" and "Object Selection Tool" - errors out

Rotate Hand tool - requires OpenGL to be enabled, since GPU can't be enabled doesn't work

Workarounds

The workaround for the documents is Edit > Preferences > Performance and disable "Use Graphics Driver".

I haven't found a workaround for Select Subject, which probably requires GPU to be enabled as well.

What was not tested

Neural Filters (asides from "Color Transfer")

3D stuff

Creative Cloud, Bridge, licensing

Hardware tested

Graphics:

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

Works with the following:

winetricks fontsmooth=rgb gdiplus msxml3 msxml6 atmlib corefonts dxvk vcrun2019 vcrun2012 vcrun2013 vcrun2010 vcrun2022 vkd3d

In winecfg, set Windows version to 10 or 11.

Sometimes becomes unresponsive in the first couple seconds after launching, but then works as normal.

With a good enough CPU and multithreading enabled (in Performance settings), it runs well enough to be used for photography editing and printing house jobs.

An addition to my recent review (that should've gone in Workarounds section): when the app is maximized, it "redraws" almost every time there's any change on the screen, which means it will flicker to black for half a second then render the window as normal again. If you use it without maximixing it (just resize it to your liking, but don't click the "maximize" button), then it looks and works fine. Observed on AMD open-source drivers and Wine 8.21. Kinda annoying, but I'll tolerate it as long as I don't have to dual-boot Windows to use PS...
