Tron 2.0

What works

Custom game loader (Tron.exe) starts up, but does not recognize my game, thus replaces the "Play" option with the option to install the game. I lost the discs, thus cannot install.

Click the "Help" option leads to an error that the help file cannot be found. This is a custom error, and clicking close does not cause the application to crash.

What does not

Clicking the install option leads to several seconds of loading, then an error involving InstallSheild.

Loading the game manually using the following command:

wine /path/to/Tron\ 2.0/Lithtech.exe -cmdfile 'Z:\path\to\Tron 2.0\launchcmds.txt'

fails to load the game. It appears that running the command causes wine to quit peacefully.

Loading the game using above command while in the directory of the game causes the resolution to change to what is in the graphics config file. A window appears, with no decoration (borders and such) that covers all but the menu bar. I cannot close the window unless I ^C on the terminal.

Additional Comments

Quitting might be caused by me using XGL/Beryl, which use 3D themselves. There may be conflicting stuff going on.

• The game needs msvcirt.dll (v5) to run. Get it from somewhere and copy it into the game directory.
• The music works with

  winetricks directmusic

• For online play, you need the Killer App Mod, since GameSpy has been shut down. The latest Killer App Mod can be downloaded here: http://tron-servers.net/patches/
• Enter this into /etc/hosts to get the ingame browser running:
