HOWTO add to the start menu manually (Easy)

System > Preferences > Main Menu

then go to the folder you want the manu link to be, I would dvice keeping it in the wine folder as it make it easiers.

Applications > Wine > Programs > Macromedia

Now press  "New Item"

And here is what should go in the boxes.

 Macromedia Fireworks 8

 env WINEPREFIX="/home/##user##/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Fireworks 8\Fireworks.exe"

replace ##user## with you login name

also if you have changes WINE path or install fireworks somewhere other than the default then you will need to adjust the paths accordingly,

If you just want a link you can end now, press ok and close down the main menu window

If you want to add an icon, then read on

First you will have to either extract it yourself from the fireworks8.exe file or you can download one.

for the origional (similar) or if you want a nicer icon look at the link below

Anyway once you have downloaded them, save the png or ico files to a folder that would wont move. For example I have a folder home/madnessred/system which I put any icons in.

When you have done that go back to you launcher options where you gave it name and command ect.

There is an weird icon in the left side of the windows, I would describe it as a spring board, andway fro those ho know it is the default shortcut icon, to change it you need to click on it.

A window will open. Click Browse on the top left corner of the screen, selectthe folder in which you icon is located and press Open. You will see some icons below. Click on the one you want, press ok, then press ok again on the launcher window. Close the main menu and your done.

HOWTO: Make png files open with fireworks

This no longer works with newer versions of wine

ok, if you want to make your png files open with Fireowrks by default, heres hwo to do it.

1 - Get the launcher details for Fireworks, it should look something like this

env WINEPREFIX="/home/~user~/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Fireworks 8\Fireworks.exe"

you will need to change ~user~ to you username, eg madnessred. If you are unsure please look at the bottom of this post for an alternative mthod to find it out.

2 - Once you have got your launcher details right click on a png file, slect "Open with > Open with other application"

3 - Where it says "|> Use a custom command", click that

4 - A box will appear, in that paste the custom launcher information and press open. Now fireworks will open with that file. Clsoe fireworks. Now when you double lick to open a png it will open with fireowrks.

How to find out your fireworks launcher information

1 - Right click on the fireworks icon in the Applications Menu (For me Applications > Wine > Programs > Macromedia > Macromedia Fireworks 8

2 - Select add launcher to desktop

3 - Right click on the Fireworks Icon, select properties, select the launcher tab.

4 - Where it says command, copy the text from that box, that is you launcher information.
