Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

What works

Installation.

Gameplay (painfully slow and only in 640x480 - but maybe it's only my machine/hardware configuration). Saving and loading of games works.

It only runs when double-clicking the kain2.exe in the wine installation directory. Invoking it via the terminal doesn't work...

Needs a NoCD patch, although I have the original CD - the only one working for me is http://dl.gamecopyworld.com/?f=soulrevcr11!zip

What does not

Higher resolutions (at least for me).

Additional Comments

Used a fresh installation of wine 0.9.6. Set Win98 as default with winecfg, autodetected CD-ROM and set audio to OSS. After startup a configuration panel appears in which software rendering and 'default audio codec' didn't work for me. Plus, I only was offered the option to use the 640x480 resolution - whereas the game can be played at up to 1660 with 32bit colour.
