What works

Installation, basic play, and analysis seem to work at least, with some workarounds.  Multi-CPU analysis seems to work fine, as do features that require an internet connection.

When you install and are asked for a product key, make sure that the last text box has trailing spaces so that it's five characters long.  Otherwise, your code will be rejected as invalid.  This issue might happen on Windows too.

What does not

There are crashes in the training modes that I have not taken the time to reproduce or troubleshoot.  The crash symptom in this app is a small error dialog.  Outside of desktop-emulation mode, it may just be a gray box that you can't read.

Workarounds

The app crashes if it can't find certain fonts.  If this happens, and you're not in desktop-emulation mode, you'll likely get gray boxes with no obvious text.  If you're in desktop-emulation mode, you'll get more readable error dialogs.  Installing corefonts from winetricks seemed to fix that problem.

If the pieces do not appear on the board, try unchecking "Use new 2D Board" in the Board menu.  One way to get there is, from the main menu screen, click "Classic Menu," then near the top of the window, click "Board."  There should be a checkbox for "Use new 2D Board" in the menu ribbon.

There's a tips dialog that appears after launching the app, but it won't have any text unless wine-gecko is installed.

What was not tested

• Sound
• The 3D graphics modes, at least not extensively
• The buttons that probably launch online apps in a browser
• A lot of the training modes (what I did try crashed)
