The official Windows XCOM 2 binary distributed by 2K Games through marketplaces such as Epic and Steam.
There have been a handful of patches published since the official game release, but none since March 2022 at the time of writing, so all versions of the game are more or less identical.

What works
The game launches without issue, intro cutscenes play, and menus can be interacted with.
There are no graphical glitches, even when tried with different video settings and resolutions. Rendering appears overall to work perfectly.
What does not
Out of the box, players are unable to progress beyond the intro cutscenes because of the game breaking bug that operatives cannot be moved or interacted with at all.
Workarounds
Installing vcrun2013 with winetricks solved that initial issue, and the game has subsequently run as well as it does on Windows.
What was not tested
Late phases of the game and the ability to beat the game.
DLCs such as War of the Chosen.
Mod support, and the Alternative Mod Launcher.
Hardware tested

The game can be purchased through the Epic Games Store and launched via the Heroic Games Launcher or Lutris, through Steam, or through another vendor such as GOG.
Out of the box, the game will not work as expected. A game breaking bug prevents players from progressing beyond the tutorial mission, because they will not be able to move or interact with operatives.
To fix this issue, launch winetricks on the prefix where XCOM 2 is installed, and install the vcrun2013 component (Microsoft Visual C++ 2013). Once this is done, the game should run as though on Windows.
You may observe better game performance using Wine-GE, or Proton if you are using Steam, instead of vanilla Wine, as they come with more gaming-oriented optimizations and libraries.
