What works

Installs readily.  No issues.

Runs and closes as expected.

Settings and preferences are kept and recovered properly.

All features that are available with the free to use version work well with no observed issues.

What does not

Scanner feature does not work due to the TWAIN/SANE issue that is a known in wine with no easy solution.

Read-out-loud feature does not work due to the absence of the Microsoft voice engine.

As usual with prior versions, to get the proper fonts, I needed to:

sudo apt-get install winetricks msttcorefonts ttf-mscorefonts-installer
winetricks corefonts

What was not tested

In the trial version, I did not test the licensed features.  However, I did spring for a license and all features, except as noted above, work well.

Hardware tested

  • GPU: Intel
  • Driver: unknown

Additional Comments

The program did install with an earlier wine 6.0 version, but some issues remained such as window resizing, not keeping settings, etc.

Installing wine 9.0 did the trick.  The program executes very well with 9.0.

It works so well, in fact, that I purchased a license and explored the other features.  They work, too!

Installer choice

This also worked for me as detailed here. The only point to note is that it is necessary to download the "Zipped Installer" (which contains a .exe file). I originally tried both MSI installers but they wouldn't start.

Good point, thanks! The exe is what I installed, too.
