Additional Comments

The game needs addition of the line ObjTextures16 in dark.cfg (which is what caused white models in my previous tests), as well as a noCD, to run correctly. It also won't work in fullscreen, failing to switch to 16 bit mode. Now the good news : it works fine on an emulated Desktop, the sound is flawless though without EAX, the game is just a tad choppy in high resolution modes (nothing that could prevent playing well though, and higher end computers should be able to cope with the burden better), and has - as usual - the X mouse cursor in the middle of the screen. Other than that, the game is fully enjoyable at last. I haven't tried to reencode the movies either (yet), anyone wanting to see them in game might try to reencode them in a codec readable natively - it works in windows, it might just work in linux.

HowTo / Notes

video/startup problems

you MUST install "iv5play.exe" from the game disc

if you want to view the cinematics then you will also need a native quartz.dll

Running on multicore systems
I am told that the command taskset -c0 wine thief2.exe is needed (and sufficent) to run Thief and Thief2 on a multicore system.
