What works

For me the game now appears to work perfectly. I can run fan missions with darkloader, and what can I say, it's working as it should.

What does not

It seems to be necessary to use an nVidia card, otherwise bug 17900 strikes (but I haven't tried the Radeon driver recently).

I have to turn off key repeat before running the game, otherwise bug 18885 strikes.

Haven't tested the install for a couple of years, so don't remember what dances were required to get it working.

video/startup problems

you MUST install "iv5play.exe" from the game disc

if you want to view the cinematics then you will also need a native quartz.dll

Running on multicore systems

I am told that the command taskset -c0 wine thief2.exe is needed (and sufficent) to run Thief and Thief2 on a multicore system.
