Calypso

What works

Able to install the Calypso.exe setup file without any hassles. Used Winefile to find the .exe setup and clicked and ran it. Able to access existing e-mail accounts with no problem. One will need to make sure to set the connection to a "local area network." This is done by going to Mailbox->Properties->Online/Offline(a Tab) and selecting "Connect to a local area network." Successfully viewed an e-mail attachment with pictures. It downloaded the "VML for viewing", installed it, and able to view the pictures. I think this uses IE in the window to view the pictures with the e-mail attachments. Able to print e-mails to printer. Able to copy text from other programs and pass along to an e-mail being composed in Calypso. Able to copy a link in a Calypso e-mail and post into browser (Opera) in Linux. Able to search e-mails and view returned results. Mailbox recovery worked after closing Wine without closing Calypso first. HTML e-mails load with no problem and view with no problems.

What does not

Calypso divides the e-mail windows into three parts. The icons appear next to the e-mails in the e-mail window. However, the heading for that windows are not too clear. A resolution issue as opposed to a rendering issue? The icons for the folders for an e-mail box do not appear.

This program is being replaced by Courier 3.5. See this link for more details: http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/Courier/ I will be downloading it and see if it works with Wine as well. I do hope this e-mail client will be ported to Linux.
