Installation (tested with wine 0.9.7, clean install, compiled from source):

(If you try a Win98 install, MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) get's shown as an installation option but won't install. Get MDAC_TYP.EXE from Microsoft (google for the 2.50 version))

$ rm -rf ~/.wine   
$ wine notepad                                   (to create a new prefix)   
$ cat >> ~/.wine/system.reg                      (fake an IE install)  
[Software\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer]  
"Version"="6.0.2900.2180"  
^D                                               (press CTRL-D here)  
$ WINEDLLOVERRIDES=advpack=n wine MDAC_TYP.EXE   (will fail the first time)  
$ WINEDLLOVERRIDES=advpack=n wine MDAC_TYP.EXE   (succeeds the second time)

$ wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/EasyTax/2005/EasyTax2005_AG.exe

What does not

Linking to help topics doesn't work. Tip: To see more topics, move with the '<<' and '>>' around and then use the 'History'-Button.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Not yet fully tested (I'm not so fast in filling out my tax forms ;) ). Printing not tested (PDF-export works fine).

Additional Comments

Back up your .wine directory if you've installed anything under wine before. The installation procedure will remove it.
