Additional Comments

So, how does one play the demo level with everything working fine and such? Unfortunately, the 1.01 Patch for Desperados works only on the Retail version, so the DEMO can't run well as it's retail counterpart. So, here's what you'll need for playing the demo: 1. Install Desperados FULL VERSION (Original Disc -- GOG version wasn't tested) 2. Install the 1.01 patch (found here: http://www.spellbound.de/files/desperados_101.exe) 3. Replace the msadp32.acm file on /YOURUSERNAME/.wine/drive_c/windows/system_32/ with one from a windows install disc or with this one: http://www.down-dll.com/index.php?file-download=msadp32.acm 4. Open Wine Configurations and in the tab "Libraries" choose msadp32.acm and click "Add" then "Edit" then mark "Windows(Native)" and press ok and apply. Ok, now you're running the Retail Desperados fine, but what about the DEMO? 5. Download this .zip file made by yours truly: http://aleff.engine001.com/Data.zip 6. Extract the Data.zip and copy and paste it on your Desperados folder (/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Infogrames/Desperados/Game/). Allow it to overwrite any existing file while copying! 7. Now you have the demo data ready to be played on the retail Desperados. But if you're playing with the Desperados disc, you will have to use a no-cd crack in order to be able to play the demo level (Wine will crash if you don't, since the game will try to check if the Demo level is on the original Desperados disc!). So download this file: http://aleff.engine001.com/game.exe and put it on /Infogrames/Desperados/Game/ instead of the original game.exe. 8. Now you can play the demo level! It will replace Mission 7 (the Kate tutorial), the mission's title will be "Santa Clara Shootout". Bear in mind however that the DEMO mission never had anything to do with the main storyline of the game, so imagine it as a John Cooper's flashback on some random bounty hunt some time ago. 9. Enjoy!
