What works
I am assuming you already know your way around basic Linux stuff, know how to install WINE, and know how to install Windows programs in WINE.
I have gotten Delorme Street Atlas 2005 USA to run in Linux using the following instructions:
1. Install WINE (I used wine-0.9.7)
2. Install WINETOOLS
3. Execute WINETOOLS and perform the following from Base Setup:
a. Create a Fake Windows drive
b. Install TrueType Font Arial
c. Install DCOM98
d. Microsoft Foundation Classes 4.X
e. Install Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1
4. Install Street Atlas 2005 USA
5. Install MagneticUpdate from http://www.delorme.com
6. Install SA2005_SP2.EXE from http://www.delorme.com
7. Execute WINETOOLS and perform the following from Base Setup:
a. MDAC 2.8 and Jet 4.0 SP8 English
8. Open ~/.wine/dosdevices
a. Change com1 to com1a
b. Plug in the GPS device
b. Create link 'ln -s /dev/ttyUSB0 com1'
(NOTE: ttyUSB0 should be where your GPS device connects, if not, change as required)
What does not
